Magic's in the Bag ... & On The Three Wise Girls!

Have you ever heard of Gris-Gris? The Three Wise Girls show is going into uncharted territory … for us, anywho. We’re going to talk about Gris-Gris Bags & Sachets & how to create them, what they’re used for, even their history—&, let’s be real … are they FOR REAL?

The term’s origin is muddied but some trace it to the word, “juju,” West African name for a fetish, or sacred object. The original European translation was “Grou-Grou.” In turn, that eventually became “Gris-Gris” … pronounced “Gree-Gree.” All this is arguable, but wherever it actually came from the term has come to be known as a good luck charm, usually mixed with the supernatural. Some automatically think, “Voodoo,” & others think witchcraft. In today’s world the term encompasses its traditional history, & so much more.

Authors Jude Bradley & CherĂ© Dastugue Coen's new book officially comes out 12/1, "Magic's in the Bag: Creating Spellbinding Gris Gris Bags & Sachets." They've created an all-encompassing primer to teach you about Gris-Gris Bags—history, purpose, & the spiritual practices from around the world which have come together to make these fascinating objects part of the past & today. You'll learn how to make your own, spells to empower your bags, & tips on growing your garden for the express purpose of filling your Gris-Gris bags.

Jude is a Los Angeles-based writer, editor and producer with more than 35 years experience in publishing. She also works as a spiritual consultant, using tarot card readings, mediumship, & energy guidance in her practice. Cheré is Louisiana born-and-bred, a freelance journalist, teacher, & author of nonfiction books & historical romance novels. Together, they know their Gris-Gris!

This show's likely to go in all directions. Anything’s possible. We expect to have others join in on the discussion—maybe some witches who use Gris-Gris bags, or some folks who adamantly advocate against the whole concept. Please be a part of our special Gris-Gris show … but don’t cast any spells on US. The jury is out on where this will all wind up!

Are YOU A Wise Girl?!

If you were a Wise Girl ... what is it you'd like to talk about? What wouldn't you like to talk about?

And--as they say in Louisiana--fer true, ARE you a Wise Girl? What do you think a Wise Girl is? Is it smarts? Or is it smart-aleckyness? Or, maybe it's truly both, eh?

Debbie, Dori, & I, Linda, as the pseudo-original Three Wise Girls would like to interact with others of similar smarts & smart-aleckyness. You may be a brain surgeon . . . or just play one on TV . . . either way, we'd love to hear from you. Tell us your name, what you do for a living, why you embrace your business & your family. Tell us exactly what's important to you as a Wise Girl. And explain how you embrace YOUR Wise Girl-itude.

We're building a list of Wise Girls to join in with us as guests on our Blot Talk Radio show beginning this fall. Tell us about you!
